“Through the years, I’ve observed and participated in Dr. Massey’s professional impact with pastors, students, & for other teachers. Like her book title C.A.R.I.N.G., I’ve noticed she’s a caring professional as well as an impressive scholar in the field of pastoral care and counseling.
Her work is important for all those who care about understanding the other in a deeper, more spiritual way, then merely surface impressions.”
Dr. Greg DeLoach, Interim Dean, Mercer
“The CARING Process is applicable to all aspects of ministry, whether it’s a 1-on-1 session, or a conversation in the hospital, or talking in a group setting.
It’s an excellent resource for anyone looking to go into the ministry & have more effective conversations.”

"The Spirituality of Pastoral Conversations"
This presentation will feature the CARING model, described in the new book CARING: Six Steps to Effective Pastoral Conversations."
The Art of CARING
You Connect with God, your own inner wisdom, and the person you are helping.
Then, you Guide the person to Connect with God, his or her own inner wisdom, and you.
ATTEND TO THE JOURNEY
You pay attention to the person's journey by listening for it and guiding the discussion.
You want to learn about the journey from where the person is to where he or she wants to go.
Develop an agreed upon, realistic, small, & specific focus for the conversation
Reaching a clear focus for the conversation will allow the rest of the process to flow smoothly and be more effective!
INVITE THE DEVELOPMENT OF AN ACTION PLAN
Guide the search for solutions and action steps to address the focus chosen in the previous step
NAVIGATE AROUND OBSTACLES
Facilitate the recognition of obstacles & the development of a plan to get around them
GENERATE A SPECIFIC ACTION PLAN
